Sometimes I have trouble answering this - why do I do what I do? When I do answer it, my reasoning falls under one of the following categories, outlined by Tony Robbins…
I often find that my reasoning is Growth. It is crucial that I feel like I am expanding my opportunities, knowledge, and future. I am what I call a “futuristic”. The future is what drives me and helps me complete my goals I set today and look forward to completing new ones tomorrow.
My desire for Growth allows me to take on more than I originally would have ever guessed I could handle. I have defied pervious boundaries that I have believed were in the way. I realized that time, age, and experience are obstacles should propel and drive oneself - not stand as lurking impossible variables. However, one must be careful, as I try to be, not to feel unsatisfied with the amount of growth that one has accomplished. I find myself often focusing on the flight of stairs ahead instead of the steps I have just taken, leaving me to feel behind. The only solution is to stay present in the moment and celebrate the milestones as they appear, or else I risk losing the benefits of Growth. The key is reflection.
The most satisfying feeling is helping others achieve Growth. By mixing Growth and Contribution, one can develop internal and external happiness. I hope to canalize on this Growth in the future by dedicating more time to community engagement and volunteerism. It is all about finding the niche in which one’s passions lie. Since my passions are professional growth and feminism, I should look towards organizations which allow me to establish those values in my community. This will leave me with feelings of Significance.
